“But dad didn't think like that. He carried on reading, sinking deep into the descriptive text. To himself he read out the first page, and it was heaven in black and white.”

“To produce a mighty book, you must choose a mighty theme.”
In our previous incarnation as a community publisher, we assisted many new authors to get their work out there into the world at large, and we are pleased that our website still features many of these titles. We worked hard on them and are proud of each and every one.
Our emphasis is on supporting writers and supporting writing groups. We provide editorial services and cover design, advice, read-throughs, meet-ups, and whatever else we can do in a pre-publication setting, to assist writers. Our blog pages will give you much that you can use within your group (see 'writing group') and our fiction will inspire readers and writers alike.
PS: The name Scott Martin Productions is a tribute to the mother of Lesley Atherton - Director of SMP. Her maiden name was Scott Martin.
Our resident artist is Morrigan Atherton-Forshaw, aged only 15. The work you'll see on this site has primarily been drawn between the ages of 12 and 13. Morrigan is a prize winning artist who has also been responsible for much of our art work, so do please browse her gallery and get in touch regarding commission enquiries.
Being huge fans of short stories, flash fiction and short novels, it is our mission to bring them back to the attention and repute of general readers. For years they've been neglected and considered to be lesser art forms in comparison with the longer novel, but there is a place for all forms of fiction. Reading on holiday, when travelling or commuting, or when waiting in a doctor's waiting room - all these situations call for something stimulating and interesting to pass the time, but also something that will not be too complex concentration-wise. Shorter stories are ideal, and we are championing their return to favour. Scott Martin Productions' director, Lesley Atherton, specialises in this form of writing.
Our blogs are quite diverse, but we're concentrating on short pieces of fiction, the occasional poem, thoughts and reviews on life, and on assistance for writing groups. We also post the occasional news item. Please feel free to use any of the writing group information and share as you see fit.
