This is the first blog on this my first author website. I've no way of knowing how this whole thing will go, but what I do know is that I'm going to give it a try. And give it my best try at that. That's pretty much the best that any of us can ever promise.
I'm intending to blog twice weekly: sometimes about my videos and publications and those of newly formed publishing company, Scott Martin Productions; sometimes about the writing groups I attend, and sometimes about life, and pretty much everything.
But for now, as this is the first blog, I'm going to tell you a little about myself. I'm a parent of two children - one of each - and we live near to Chorley in Lancashire with our big, beautiful, white dog and our chunky ginger guinea pig. I've been writing for many years now, and have been published, under many different nom de plumes in many different publications. But that's all behind me now. I've decided to come out of the woodwork and begin to admit to the world at large that I am a writer. Whether I'm worth reading or not, is up to you lot to decide. I am learning every day and will soon be confident enough about that to shout it from the rooftops. Onwards and upwards I say. Onwards and upwards.
Incidentally, this website and all the work I've done, all the writing and publishing I intend to do... none of this would have been possible without the parenting and love of two exceptional people (both sadly gone) - my mum and dad. So, mum and dad, here's looking at you.
Thanks for encouraging my education.
Thanks for all the love and care you gave me.
Thanks mum for letting me drag you to music shops and for taking me to lunch, for caring for the children and for generally being the best possible mother.
And thanks dad for all the time we spent together when mum was no longer around, and for trusting me with your research and your friendship. I don't know where I would have ended up without you, and I don't even want to think about it.
Thanks mum and dad. Every word I write has a little bit of both of you within it...
Much love, Lesley xxx
