Review of 'Embraced by the Light' by Betty Eadie

I read this many years ago and have just recently discovered the notes I made at the time.

I was obviously going through a phase of my life when I needed some spiritual inspiration, as I noted the following quotes:

“I understood that life is lived most fully in the imagination - that, ironically, imagination is the key to reality. This is something I never would have supposed. We were sent here to live life fully, to live it abundantly, to find joy in our own creations, whether they are new thoughts or things or emotions or experiences. We are to create our own lives, to exercise our gifts and experience both failure and success. We are to use our free will to expand and magnify our lives!”

“For as (a man) thinketh in his heart, so it he.” – Proverbs 23:7

“All things of importance are created spiritually first and physically second.”

“Spirits prepared for life on earth… I was how desirous these spirits were of coming to earth. They looked upon life here as a school where they could learn many things and develop the attributes they lacked… we had all desired to come here, that we actually chosen many of our weaknesses and difficult situations so that we could grow (and) given weakness which would be for our good.”

The book left me with some primary thoughts. First, we are at our most self-centred when depressed. Once we begin to concentrate on others our own true personal healing begins. To heal, we shouldn’t harp on negatively about illness, but instead verbalise our cure, letting our voice vocalise our positive thoughts. Basically, we already have what we need and we are all already unique. We always have the right attributes to help ourselves though we may not know how to use them. And, most interesting, those characteristics we criticise most in other (and don’t forgive) are almost always those we do possess - or fear possessing.
